INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY COURSES

COURSE TITLE                                     Industrial Education I

COURSE DESCRIPTION                                    The first quarter of this course is designed to teach students how to design, draw, plan and how to use drawings in everyday life.  Areas covered will include steps in drawing, freehand sketching, procedures in drawing, and special drawings.  The second quarter of this course is designed to teach beginning woodworking.  In this course, instruction of fundamental processes in hand woodworking, safety, tools, materials and machines will be given.  Particular stress will be placed on student participation in shop activities.

COURSE DESCRIPTION                                    The first quarter of this class is designed to provide students an in-depth study of residential wiring and small engine operations.  In electricity, the student will be given a solid background of electrical principles, tools, equipment and the how’s and why’s of safe electrical wiring practice.  In small engines, the student will be given instructions on basic information on small engine construction, how the systems operate, lubrication requirements, preventive maintenance practices, servicing techniques and rebuilding procedures.  In the second quarter, the student will be exposed to modern welding theory, fundamentals and basic processes along with the practical applications that build skills and techniques for the welder.  Oxyfuel gas processes, shielded metal arc welding and gas metal arc welding will be covered.

COURSE DESCRIPTION                                    Woods is designed for anyone interested in the fundamentals of materials, tools, machines, and processes used in the building of furniture and the production of cabinets.  The course includes coverage of which woods to use and why and how to use them.  Also covered is the history of cabinet making, major furniture styles, and the elements and principles of design, materials, layouts, tools and machines, construction techniques and finishing.

COURSE DESCRIPTION                                    Learning experiences with residential construction methods and graphic representation of those methods in the form of design details is provided.  Organized learning experiences involve the planning, design and completion of a set of working drawings during Architectural Drafting.  Extensive use is made of Auto Cad, 3D Studio Viz, Architectural Desktop & Inventor.
